Fermierul Sam Brassfield se implică în-un război cu avidul de putere Clay Mathews printre ai cărui aliați se include si fratele logodnicei lui Brassfield. Matthews plănuia pe ascuns impreuna cu crescatorii de vite,angajarea unor pistolari care sa intreprinda atacuri asupra fermierilor,sa taie gardurile,iar in acest fel sa poata pune mana pe terenurile acestora. Dar fermierii își unesc forțele și cer ajutorul președintelui Chester A. Arthur,ceea ce va duce la o schimbare a situatiei care putea fi soluționata doar cu gloanțe.
