Taylor interpreteazã rolul unei proaspãt-cãsãtorite, care îl însoteste pe Finch la plantatia lui de ceai, numitã "Elephant Walk". Aici, ea se va îndrãgosti de supraveghetorul Andrews. Dar acest triunghi amoros e pus în umbrã de alte evenimente. Izbucneste o epidemie de holerã, seceta arde pãmântul, iar elefantii, înnebuniti de sete, devasteazã plantatia. Aceastã renumitã secventã e un triumf al cinematografiei. Bungaloul e transformat în ruine de elefantii în goanã, care trec peste podelele lustruite, distrug peretii si dãrâmã lãmpile cu kerosen, stârnind un infern îngrozitor.
